John 13:12-14
John 13:12-14 King James Version (KJV)
12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
John 13:12-14
NSB 12 After he washed their feet he put his outer garments on and sat down. He asked: »Do you know what I have done to you? 13 »You call me Teacher and Lord and you are right for I am. 14 »If the Teacher and Lord washed your feet you should wash one another’s feet.
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
12 It is important to understand in part what the Lord has done for us we may never truly understand it until we see Him face to face. Feet washing would have been common in those days but not for the Master to wash His servants feet.
13 They knew who Jesus was in part but only after He returned from His death would they fully understand. Jesus is the greatest teacher because He is all knowing and He is an all powerful Lord.
14 In certain churches feet washing is done before communion, many people who do not do this say that it was done out of custom and that the custom is now out dated they say that what He is doing here is being a servant and we should serve one another.
