Entering in to a 40 day prayer
First topic message reminder :
Folks, I am entering in to a 40 day prayer. I receive a wonderful devotional each and every day, from a Pastor Frank, and I wanted to share with you what he said in today's devotional:
WOW! Did I need to hear this.
I also received this daily devotional in my email, from Dr. Charles Stanley:
We need to be Christians, that LIFT one another up, to the FATHER. There are way too many Christians, that waste precious time and effort trying to tear someone down. If you are one that does this, you need to STOP IT! Time as we know it, is growing short, and there are plenty of people who are lost and dying, watching you. Ask yourself: What is my TESTIMONY and WITNESS, to them? If it is negative, then there is some heart changing that needs to take place. It is time to purge yourself, and get a clean heart, prepared to SERVE the LORD.
It isn't about us. It is about serving the ONE, who can and does SAVE us, from all unrighteousness. We all fall short of the GLORY of GOD. There is not a single Christian, that has been made equal to GOD, nor will we ever be completed, in this lifetime. We need so desperately, to get down on our faces, and really seek the LORD, to make necessary changes, from within.
What we show the world, is who we really are. You can't hide behind a mask, and pretend to be something your not. What we show them, comes from our hearts. The words we speak, often give our hearts away. The BIBLE tells us, that the tongue, a little member, can destroy all that is good. Is your tongue in check?
Righteousness, comes by following GOD'S WORD. Can you honestly say, that you follow the TEACHINGS of CHRIST? You know, the words that are written in RED, in most BIBLES? If you are missing one point, the WORD says, that one sin, is breaking all sins. WHOA? That means, that you are the same as a murderer, or something just as vile! It is time, for Christians, to really seek the LORD, while HE is yet to be found.
I'm doing this 40 days of prayer, to ask the LORD to pull on our heart strings, and to motivate Christians, everywhere, to put on the FULL ARMOUR of GOD. Let's stop play acting, and get down to the FATHER'S BUSINESS.
Psa 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
No matter what!
No matter what you see in the natural!
No matter what you feel in your emotions!
No matter what a Christian did or did not do correctly!
WOW! Did I need to hear this.
I also received this daily devotional in my email, from Dr. Charles Stanley:
The Nature of Discouragement
Psalm 16:7-11
Discouragement is a powerful, destructive force. Before we can understand how to rid our lives of this deadly landmine, we must recognize its harmful nature.
Understand that discouragement...
1. Is something we choose. Nobody else can make us discouraged; it is a choice that we alone make when facing disappointments.
2. Is universal. Everybody will face periods of disappointment and discouragement from time to time. This simply cannot be avoided, because we live in a seriously flawed world that is filled with equally flawed people.
3. Can recur. Sometimes we think we've settled an issue, which later resurfaces when we least expect it. Or, we may have old emotional wounds that are torn open by something a person says or does.
4. Can be temporary--or it can destroy our life. The choice is ours. If we refuse to deal with discouragement head-on, we are opening the door for it to completely dominate our life.
5. Is conquerable. With the Lord's help, we can choose not to be discouraged. If we don't believe discouragement can be conquered, then we're actually saying that God doesn't want His children to have a rich and fulfilled life.
Are you stuck in the throes of discouragement? If so, it will simply be impossible to experience the peace and inner joy that God wants for His children. Let Him help you out of that lowly state: start by believing that the Father wants to lift you up and get your life back on track with Him.

Re: Entering in to a 40 day prayer
Dear FATHER, thank you for the 36 days of learning from YOUR WORD, through these daily devotions. Thank you for the men, who gave their time to you, and were WILING VESSELS. LORD, if there be any strongholds, that are holding one of YOUR Children back, let this be the day, that they are freed from this bondage. Let us come into the FULLNESS of YOUR HOLY PRESENCE, and PRAISE and WORSHIP YOU, because YOU ALONE ARE WORTHY of our PRAISE and WORSHIP! Thank you for JESUS making a way, for us. Thank you for JESUS BLOOD SACRIFICE, that was ACCEPTABLE in YOUR SIGHT. Thank you for YOUR REDEEMING GRACE and MERCY. Thank you for YOUR LOVE, for us, while we were yet sinners. LORD, we desire to be IN YOUR PRESENCE. Make a WAY for us to be in constant communications, with you, through out our busy lives. Help us see the importance of putting YOU FIRST, in all things. Thank you for giving us PEACE that SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, when the storms of life are raging. Let us not fear evil, but know that YOU HAVE CONQUERED all evil, for our sakes. Let us be the LIGHT in the darkness. Let our LIGHT, be JESUS, shining through us, for all to see. Thank you for the HOLY SPIRIT, who prays for us, when we do not know what or how to pray. Thank you for YOUR WORD, which INSTRUCTS us, on how to LIVE for YOU. Thank you FATHER, for ALL YOU HAVE DONE, ARE DOING, and WILL DO. Let YOUR WILL BE DONE, on earth, as it is in HEAVEN. IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN.

How shall I depend on Him for raising my body from the dust; and saving my soul at last; if I distrust Him for a crust of bread, towards my preservation.

Your Perspective in Prayer
Psalm 95:6-8
Why is it that two believers can pray about an issue and come away with completely different responses and attitudes? This has to do with their perspective.
We each come to God with different life experiences and expectations. If we want to hear His voice clearly, we must first address those things that affect how well we listen:
1. Our relationship with God. The Father speaks differently to the unsaved than He does to Christians. And while neither God nor the fundamentals of faith ever change, He does tailor His message to individual believers on the basis of their spiritual maturity and unique situations. So two people may hear dissimilar things, because they are at different points on the journey.
2. Our understanding of who God is. How we view the Lord changes the way we hear Him. For example, if you see God as a loving Father, you will hear His encouraging voice and accept His loving discipline. But if you see Him as a harsh, demanding Father, then you may feel as though you can never live up to His expectations.
3. Our Attitude toward God. If we come to the Lord with a proud, rebellious nature, we will naturally not be inclined to hear His voice of authority. However, if we come with a submissive nature, we will most likely hear--and joyfully receive--His Word.
God is still speaking in the world today. Stop and think about what there is in your own life that could get in the way of His message. What affects your ability or willingness to listen? Lay it out before the Lord today, and ask Him to break through the barriers.

from the messages of Adrian Rogers
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Colossians 1:17 - "And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist."
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
We sing about the Lord having the whole world in His hands. But do you know what is more remarkable than that? He has the whole universe in His hands. He's the One who spoke it into existence. He’s the One who keeps it going. He's the One who is going to fold it up like a garment and tuck it away in a drawer somewhere. He regulates it; He rules it, and He runs it. When you pick up the newspaper and read something alarming, you don't need to panic. That just says "Praise God, I told you so!" God is in control! He Who flung the stars in space has the whole universe in His hands!
ACTION POINT:
Take the hand of a child today and look at the stars twinkling in the night or a leaf changing color, then share about the awesome Creator and Sustainer of all.

This Morning's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"Partakers of the divine nature."—2 Peter 1:4.
TO be a partaker of the divine nature is not, of course, to become God. That cannot be. The essence of Deity is not to be participated in by the creature. Between the creature and the Creator there must ever be a gulf fixed in respect of essence; but as the first man Adam was made in the image of God, so we, by the renewal of the Holy Spirit, are in a yet diviner sense made in the image of the Most High, and are partakers of the divine nature. We are, by grace, made like God. "God is love"; we become love—"He that loveth is born of God." God is truth; we become true, and we love that which is true: God is good, and He makes us good by His grace, so that we become the pure in heart who shall see God. Moreover, we become partakers of the divine nature in even a higher sense than this—in fact, in as lofty a sense as can be conceived, short of our being absolutely divine. Do we not become members of the body of the divine person of Christ? Yes, the same blood which flows in the head flows in the hand: and the same life which quickens Christ quickens His people, for "Ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Nay, as if this were not enough, we are married unto Christ. He hath betrothed us unto Himself in righteousness and in faithfulness, and he who is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Oh! marvellous mystery! we look into it, but who shall understand it? One with Jesus—so one with Him that the branch is not more one with the vine than we are a part of the Lord, our Saviour, and our Redeemer! While we rejoice in this, let us remember that those who are made partakers of the divine nature will manifest their high and holy relationship in their intercourse with others, and make it evident by their daily walk and conversation that they have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. O for more divine holiness of life!

This Evening's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"Am I a sea, or a whale, that Thou settest a watch over me?"—Job 7:12.
THIS was a strange question for Job to ask of the Lord. He felt himself to be too insignificant to be so strictly watched and chastened, and he hoped that he was not so unruly as to need to be so restrained. The enquiry was natural from one surrounded with such insupportable miseries, but after all, it is capable of a very humbling answer. It is true man is not the sea, but he is even more troublesome and unruly. The sea obediently respects its boundary, and though it be but a belt of sand, it does not overleap the limit. Mighty as it is, it hears the divine hitherto, and when most raging with tempest it respects the word; but self-willed man defies heaven and oppresses earth, neither is there any end to this rebellious rage. The sea, obedient to the moon, ebbs and flows with ceaseless regularity, and thus renders an active as well as a passive obedience; but man, restless beyond his sphere, sleeps within the lines of duty, indolent where he should be active. He will neither come nor go at the divine command, but sullenly prefers to do what he should not, and to leave undone that which is required of him. Every drop in the ocean, every beaded bubble, and every yeasty foam-flake, every shell and pebble, feel the power of law, and yield or move at once. O that our nature were but one thousandth part as much conformed to the will of God! We call the sea fickle and false, but how constant it is! Since our fathers' days, and the old time before them, the sea is where it was, beating on the same cliffs to the same tune; we know where to find it, it forsakes not its bed, and changes not in its ceaseless boom; but where is man-vain, fickle man? Can the wise man guess by what folly he will next be seduced from his obedience? We need more watching than the billowy sea, and are far more rebellious. Lord, rule us for Thine own glory. Amen.
Re: Entering in to a 40 day prayer
Dear FATHER, Thank you for this 40 day prayer, which will be winding down soon. It is my prayer that these 40 days, have not been spent in vain ramblings, but have put our hearts to test. LORD, we need YOU, now, more than ever. The tides of time, are changing rapidly before us. There is division, among YOUR people. A division, that the enemy has planted. There are wolves among the sheep. Help us to see the difference, between the TRUTH and the lie. Give us the HOLY SPIRIT ANOINTING and HIDE YOUR WORD, within our hearts. LORD, I remember the dream you gave me about the scroll mixing in the air, and I know that one day, all of our vain babblings will burn up, in YOUR HOLY PRESENCE. Today, I seek YOUR WILL, for my life, and for all YOUR children's lives. REDIRECT our footsteps, back on to YOUR NARROW PATH. GUIDE us, in YOUR WORD. REVEAL YOUR TRUTH to us. Remove all the sinful things that hold us back, from YOUR FULLNESS. Help us to become OBEDIENT children. LORD, if it means a spanking, or two, or four, then spank us. We need to be FULLY COMMITTED to RECEIVING YOUR WORD. LORD, if there are indeed wolves in sheeps clothing, then I ask that you soften their hearts, open their ears and eyes, to RECEIVE YOUR WORD. Let SALVATION be the WORD of the day, for those, who like Saul, sought to kill and destroy Christians. Let those that come against Israel, also find JESUS. We need YOU LORD. Thank you for sending JESUS, to be our LORD and SAVIOR. Thank you for making a WAY, when we could not make a way, ourselves. Thank you for loving a sinner like me, and SAVING me, from my sins. Thank you for the NEW LIFE, YOU gave to me. Thank you for ALL YOU HAVE DONE, ARE DOING and WILL DO. Thank you for each MIRACLE and for each new day. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in HEAVEN. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

Proverbs 3:5-8: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path. Be not wise in thine own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil and it shall be health to thy navel and marrow to thine bone.
Mark 10:27 – All things are possible with God.
Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God which passes all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Standing here- FOCUSED ON THE THINGS OF GOD! When we are Gounded in GOD, the gates of hell cannot prevail!
Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will show to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
1 Samuel 12:7 Now therefore stand still, that I may reason with you before the LORD of all the righteous acts of the LORD, which he did to you and to your fathers.
1 Samuel 12:16 Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.

With visible breath, I'm calling your name. With visible tracks, I'm finding my way. With a sorrowful heart, I honor this place and offer these tears to your name. In a moment of truth at the top of the hill, I open my arms and let go of my will.
And stand with my face to the wind with this storm beating down, on this sacred ground. If I stand, for the grace that I've known, for what I believe then I won't stand alone.
There's a new pair of eyes to embrace all I see, a new peace of mind that comes quietly. There's a joy in my heart that you've given to me and I offer this soul's melody. So I beat on my chest till my song has been sung, and I cry like the wolf at the top of my lungs.
And stand with my face to the wind with this storm beating down, on this sacred ground. If I stand, for the grace that I've known, for what I believe then I won't stand alone.

Day 38
How is your SPIRITUAL HEARING?
Dr Rogers summary says it well:
If you have the smallest doubt in your heart that it might be sin or lead to sin, be strong and say "no". I have had to back away from teachings and other activities, that I felt might either be sin, or lead to sin. This doesn't mean that I am perfect, by any means, but it does show GROWTH in the LORD, when I am able to make DISCERNING decisions. In some cases, some have been offended by my answer of "no". If you are one who is offended, by my answer, then there is some growing areas for you, too. You see, the LORD WILL CALL us out, if we are about to enter into sin. How do you know if what you are doubting is sinful or not? TRUST the WORD, to be YOUR GUIDE. Take time to pray, really pray, about what you are doubting, and WAIT upon the LORD for DIRECTION. HE WILL NEVER let you down. On the other hand, ole slew foot, wants you to rush in and not give anything a second thought.
God does not give us his power so that we might feel good about ourselves; he gives us his power so that we can obey him for his sake, for his glory.

Growing to Hear Him Better
Matthew 17:5
Our ability to hear the Lord is directly related to our relationship with Him. For example, an unbeliever can hear only one message from God--the call to repentance and salvation in Jesus Christ. If this vital step has not been taken, nothing else God does or says to that person will make a difference.
But what about believers? How does a Christian's closeness with God impact his or her listening? This is primarily an issue of identification. Once we receive Christ as Savior, then we certainly have salvation and are eternally secure in Him. But beyond that, God wants us to grow and mature in our faith.
We grow in Christ by identifying ourselves more and more with Jesus. That continual identification brings us closer to God. And so, when we pray, we are not praying to some cold and distant god "out there somewhere." Instead, we are praying to a God who loves us, sustains us, and molds us into His own image.
That changes how we approach Him, doesn't it? Instead of crawling face down before Him, mourning and wailing because of our sin and pleading for His mercies, we can come to Him boldly and joyfully, assured that He loves us, forgives us, and rejoices in our prayers.
When we have unimpeded fellowship with the Father, we definitely hear Him better. As we grow closer to Him, our spiritual hearing continues to improve. Through Jesus, we can have unimaginable intimacy and clear two-way communication with almighty God. Let the Lord know that is your desire.

Is It Clean Enough?
from the messages of Adrian Rogers
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Psalm 24:3-4 - "Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart."
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A man was in the back bedroom of his home getting dressed while his wife was in the living room talking to a friend. He called out to his wife, “Darling, is this shirt clean enough for me to wear?” Without hesitation, she said, “No.” He said, “How did you know it wasn’t clean enough to wear, you didn’t even come back to look?” She said, “If you had to ask, it wasn’t!” When it comes to the question of whether you should do something or not, if it’s doubtful, it’s dirty. Most of us don’t give God the benefit of the doubt; we just go ahead and do it.
ACTION POINT:
Are you in doubt about something? If you have even the smallest doubt in your heart that it might be sin or lead to sin, be strong and choose to say “no.” He will be your peace.
Dr Rogers summary says it well:

This Morning's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"Bring him unto me."—Mark 9:19.
DESPAIRINGLY the poor disappointed father turned away from the disciples to their Master. His son was in the worst possible condition, and all means had failed, but the miserable child was soon delivered from the evil one when the parent in faith obeyed the Lord Jesus' word, "Bring him unto me." Children are a precious gift from God, but much anxiety comes with them. They may be a great joy or a great bitterness to their parents; they may be filled with the Spirit of God, or possessed with the spirit of evil. In all cases, the Word of God gives us one receipt for the curing of all their ills, "Bring him unto me." O for more agonizing prayer on their behalf while they are yet babes! Sin is there, let our prayers begin to attack it. Our cries for our offspring should precede those cries which betoken their actual advent into a world of sin. In the days of their youth we shall see sad tokens of that dumb and deaf spirit which will neither pray aright, nor hear the voice of God in the soul, but Jesus still commands, "Bring them unto me." When they are grown up they may wallow in sin and foam with enmity against God; then when our hearts are breaking we should remember the great Physician's words, "Bring them unto me." Never must we cease to pray until they cease to breathe. No case is hopeless while Jesus lives.
The Lord sometimes suffers His people to be driven into a corner that they may experimentally know how necessary He is to them. Ungodly children, when they show us our own powerlessness against the depravity of their hearts, drive us to flee to the strong for strength, and this is a great blessing to us. Whatever our morning's need may be, let it like a strong current bear us to the ocean of divine love. Jesus can soon remove our sorrow, He delights to comfort us. Let us hasten to Him while He waits to meet us.

This Evening's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"Encourage him."—Deuteronomy 1:38.
GOD employs His people to encourage one another. He did not say to an angel, "Gabriel, my servant Joshua is about to lead my people into Canaan—go, encourage him." God never works needless miracles; if His purposes can be accomplished by ordinary means, He will not use miraculous agency. Gabriel would not have been half so well fitted for the work as Moses. A brother's sympathy is more precious than an angel's embassy. The angel, swift of wing, had better known the Master's bidding than the people's temper. An angel had never experienced the hardness of the road, nor seen the fiery serpents, nor had he led the stiff-necked multitude in the wilderness as Moses had done. We should be glad that God usually works for man by man. It forms a bond of brotherhood, and being mutually dependent on one another, we are fused more completely into one family. Brethren, take the text as God's message to you. Labour to help others, and especially strive to encourage them. Talk cheerily to the young and anxious enquirer, lovingly try to remove stumblingblocks out of his way. When you find a spark of grace in the heart, kneel down and blow it into a flame. Leave the young believer to discover the roughness of the road by degrees, but tell him of the strength which dwells in God, of the sureness of the promise, and of the charms of communion with Christ. Aim to comfort the sorrowful, and to animate the desponding. Speak a word in season to him that is weary, and encourage those who are fearful to go on their way with gladness. God encourages you by His promises; Christ encourages you as He points to the heaven He has won for you, and the spirit encourages you as He works in you to will and to do of His own will and pleasure. Imitate divine wisdom, and encourage others, according to the word of this evening.
Training a child, begins at a tender age. I've raised two daughters, who were both loved equally in our home. I didn't play favorites, even though they both think, I did more for the other one. Yet, as they grew up, I could see how well my teaching abilities had been; or where I failed most miserably. One daughter is happily married, and raising a family. The 2nd daughter, miserable in her marriage, has a son, who has limitations, because of birth defects. The 2nd daughter, is a rebellious child, and is still in rebellion. My oldest daughter, went through a stage of rebellion as a child, but soon, she learned how to be content in being obedient. So, how did one child turn out well, and the other, still rebels? We have all known a rebellious child, if we have had children, or know someone who does. It is the battle of wills. Some will fight with everything they have, in order to get their way. My father and mother spent many hours in prayer, for me, and my two older siblings. Each of us were unique, and have very different personalities. Yet, even through the rebellious years, each of us, has made peace within ourselves, and come back to the training we received as a child. My hope, for my rebellious child is founded upon the WORD:
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Today, I can see how my training my children, has been passed on to their ability to be good parents. I know that the one who rebels the most, will become a child who clings to the LORD, just as she was raised, and because of all she saw me do. (Both of my daughters, accepted the LORD, and I know where their eternal destination is!) In my most trying times as a parent, I would be on my knees before the LORD, and digging into the WORD, for GUIDANCE. I was patient in most things, and learned to be patient in others. They watched an inexperienced parent, gain KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING, from the WORD, and through FAITH in our LORD and SAVIOR. Even when I failed so miserably, my children, saw my actions. And actions, we know, sometimes speak louder than words. PRAISE the LORD, for rebellious children. PRAISE the LORD, when they come back around, to the FIRM FOUNDATIONS, that you have laid for them. PRAISE the LORD, for HIS WORD does not come back void!
Yes, there is HOPE, even in a REBELLIOUS CHILD.
What does this say, about out ability to help others? It taught me, to be an encourager, through HIS WORD, and to PRAY, for every need. It is HIS LIGHT within me, that must SHINE. If I hide my LIGHT, then others will remain lost and dying, without ever knowing the ONE WHO SAVES. Let us LABOR in WELL DOING, and reaching out to someone who is lost and hurting. One act of kindness, may just be the thing, that brings someone around the THRONE of LOVE, GRACE and MERCY.
Re: Entering in to a 40 day prayer
Dear FATHER, thank you for YOUR WORD, that never returns void. Thank you that we can come to YOU, with all our burdens, and know that YOU WILL HEAR our faintest cries, and in HEARING GIVE us ANSWERS and PEACE. Thank you for showing our own imperfections, through our children, and that even though we are imperfect, YOU have GIVEN us INSTRUCTION, on how to raise them, and PEACE in knowing, that they will never depart for long, from the TRAINING they receive in our homes. LORD, we know we are lacking in so many areas, yet, being PERFECTED by YOUR LOVE, for us. Help us, to be EDIFYING to one another, to LOVE even in adversity, and to be a LIGHT SHINING on the HILL, for CHRIST SAKE. Thank you FATHER, for ALL YOU HAVE DONE, ARE DOING, and WILL DO. Guide us into YOUR WORD. Help us to be strong, and say "no", when needed. Help us to stay firmly planted on the NARROW PATH, that leads us to YOU. Thank you for the HOLY SPIRIT DISCERNMENT, and for the WORD which is our GUIDEBOOK. YOU have MADE A WAY, for us, even while we were yet sinners. Remove the rebellious heart, and replace it with a CLEAN HEART, that is OBEDIENT to YOUR WORD. Thank you for JESUS who came to SAVE us, from our sins. Thank you for JESUS, who made a way for us, through MERCY and GRACE. How WORTHY YOU ARE, to BE PRAISED! LET YOUR WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in HEAVEN. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

God Speaks Through a Friend
1 Samuel 3:1-10
When we're not listening for the Lord's voice, He will often send a message through someone else. In 1 Samuel 3:1-10, for example, young Samuel is confused about what is happening. He hears a person speaking but doesn't recognize it as the voice of God. However, his mentor--Eli, the priest--discerns that the Father was calling, so he tells the boy what to do when the Lord speaks again (v. 9).
In taking his advice, Samuel begins a lifelong career of relaying to others what the voice of God says. This might not have happened, though, if Eli had not given his young helper a word of instruction.
I myself had a similar experience several years ago. A friend called me unexpectedly and said, "While I was praying, God told me to tell you to spend tomorrow in prayer and fasting before you make that decision." This struck me in a mighty way, because I was indeed facing a big decision, but there was no way that my friend could have known about it.
I did what he advised, and through this process, God led me to the answer I needed. In fact, I discovered that I had been moving in the wrong direction and would have made a terrible mistake if my friend hadn't called. However, God stepped in and got my attention in a remarkable way.
When we're going off course, the Lord will sometimes speak through other believers to reach us. Therefore, it is vital to maintain a close network of godly men and women we can trust. Thank the Lord for the Christ-centered people in your life, and pray for wisdom in discerning their counsel.
A hymn about hearing God speak:Speak, Lord, in the Stillness
Speak, Lord, in the stillness,
While I wait on Thee;
Hushed my heart to listen
In expectancy.
Speak, O blessed Master,
In this quiet hour;
Let me see Thy face, Lord,
Feel Thy touch of power.
For the words Thou speakest,
"They are life," indeed;
Living Bread from heaven,
Now my spirit feed!
All to Thee is yielded,
I am not my own;
Blissful, glad surrender,
I am Thine alone.
Speak, Thy servant heareth!
Be not silent, Lord;
Waits my soul upon Thee
For the quickening word!
Fill me with the knowledge
Of Thy glorious will;
All Thine own good pleasure
In my life fulfill.
Like "a watered garden"
Full of fragrance rare
Ling'ring in Thy presence
Let my life appear.

BIBLE MEDITATION:
1 Peter 1:18-19 - "Ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold...but with the precious blood of Christ."
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
I was talking to a man who sold real estate and asked, “What determines the worth of a piece of property?” He said, “What a person is willing to pay for it.” It doesn’t matter how much you paid for it yourself. It’s what a person is willing to pay to have it for himself. That makes me want to shout! You and I must be worth something if Jesus would pay His life to have us for His own. Jesus is the proof of how much we’re worth.
ACTION POINT:
Do you know how much you weigh? Call a jeweler or a bank today and ask how much your weight is worth in gold. That’s no comparison to your worth in blood.

This Morning's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."—Galatians 5:25.
THE two most important things in our holy religion are the life of faith and the walk of faith. He who shall rightly understand these is not far from being a master in experimental theology, for they are vital points to a Christian. You will never find true faith unattended by true godliness; on the other hand, you will never discover a truly holy life which has not for its root a living faith upon the righteousness of Christ. Woe unto those who seek after the one without the other! There are some who cultivate faith and forget holiness; these may be very high in orthodoxy, but they shall be very deep in condemnation, for they hold the truth in unrighteousness; and there are others who have strained after holiness of life, but have denied the faith, like the Pharisees of old, of whom the Master said, they were "whitewashed sepulchres." We must have faith, for this is the foundation; we must have holiness of life, for this is the superstructure. Of what service is the mere foundation of a building to a man in the day of tempest? Can he hide himself therein? He wants a house to cover him, as well as a foundation for that house. Even so we need the superstructure of spiritual life if we would have comfort in the day of doubt. But seek not a holy life without faith, for that would be to erect a house which can afford no permanent shelter, because it has no foundation on a rock. Let faith and life be put together, and, like the two abutments of an arch, they will make our piety enduring. Like light and heat streaming from the same sun, they are alike full of blessing. Like the two pillars of the temple, they are for glory and for beauty. They are two streams from the fountain of grace; two lamps lit with holy fire; two olive trees watered by heavenly care. O Lord, give us this day life within, and it will reveal itself without to Thy glory.

This Evening's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"And they follow me."—John 10:27.WE should follow our Lord as unhesitatingly as sheep follow their shepherd, for He has a right to lead us wherever He pleases. We are not our own, we are bought with a price—let us recognize the rights of the redeeming blood. The soldier follows his captain, the servant obeys his master, much more must we follow our Redeemer, to whom we are a purchased possession. We are not true to our profession of being Christians, if we question the bidding of our Leader and Commander. Submission is our duty, cavilling is our folly. Often might our Lord say to us as to Peter, "What is that to thee? Follow thou Me." Wherever Jesus may lead us, He goes before us. If we know not where we go, we know with whom we go. With such a companion, who will dread the perils of the road? The journey may be long, but His everlasting arms will carry us to the end. The presence of Jesus is the assurance of eternal salvation, because He lives, we shall live also. We should follow Christ in simplicity and faith, because the paths in which He leads us all end in glory and immortality. It is true they may not be smooth paths—they may be covered with sharp flinty trials, but they lead to the "city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God." "All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep His covenant." Let us put full trust in our Leader, since we know that, come prosperity or adversity, sickness or health, popularity or contempt, His purpose shall be worked out, and that purpose shall be pure, unmingled good to every heir of mercy. We shall find it sweet to go up the bleak side of the hill with Christ; and when rain and snow blow into our faces, His dear love will make us far more blest than those who sit at home and warm their hands at the world's fire. To the top of Amana, to the dens of lions, or to the hills of leopards, we will follow our Beloved. Precious Jesus, draw us, and we will run after Thee.http://www.spurgeon.org/morn_eve/this_evening.cgi
Re: Entering in to a 40 day prayer
Has the LORD sent someone to SPEAK to you, about a decision, or other important event in your life. Or have you ever had someone say, the LORD woke me up, just to pray for you? I have WITNESSED both of these events in my own life. Yes, the LORD will use, other Christians, to get our attention. HE VALUES us, and BOUGHT us with a GREAT PRICE. Do you value yourself, as WORTHY, of this BLOOD BOUGHT PURCHASE? It is a bit HUMBLING to think, that our LORD and SAVIOR, POURED out HIMSELF, to SAVE us. Yet, this is the PRICE that is PAID in FULL.
There is something about living a life of FAITH, that many of us, just seem to fall short. But, the WORD tells us, that the FAITH of a mustard seed, was all we need. LIVE by FAITH, and WALK in FAITH. When you tell the enemy, that he has no strongholds on you, that he must get behind you, in JESUS NAME; you are 100% TRUSTING in FAITH. GOD always MAKES a WAY, where there seems no way. HE will act upon our FAITH, and HE ANSWERS our prayers, in JESUS NAME.
Who do we follow? If we follow man, we will be lead astray, but if we follow JESUS, HE GOES BEFORE us, to make our WAY PLAIN. Take up your CROSS, and FOLLOW HIM.
Dear FATHER, thank you for each of these days, that has been spent in devotions and prayer. Help us, to continue seeking YOUR WILL, for us, each and every day. We ask that there be UNITY in the SPIRIT of the LORD. Remove all that is not of YOU, or of YOUR WILL, in our lives. Replace that which has hindered our WALK, with the LIGHT of YOUR HOLY WORD. GUIDE our steps, down the NARROW PATH. TEACH us YOUR WAYS. Let us PRESS IN, to YOUR WORD. Let us get past, all the fluff of this world, and seek to place our TREASURES in HEAVENLY PLACES. Let each one of us, RENEW our FAITH, in YOU, TODAY. FATHER, we ask that YOU PLACE a NEW DESIRE to SERVE YOU, TODAY. FILL us, with the HOLY SPIRIT ANOINTING. Let all we do or say, be EDIFYING unto YOU. Let others see, CHRIST JESUS, in us. Let the lost and dying world, come to REPENTANCE, at the FOOT of the CROSS, and TURN to JESUS, who is our SALVATION. FATHER, let us not GROW WEARY in WELL DOING. Thank you for ALL YOU HAVE DONE, ARE DOING and WILL DO. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE, TODAY. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.

Speaking Through Finances
Judges 6:1-6
One of the greatest challengers to God's rule in our lives is money. When we experience a great season of financial blessing, it becomes easy to feel self-sufficient, thinking we do not need the Lord for our success. In those times, God may have to get our attention in a most painful way.
We see this in today's passage. The people had become unruly and turned away from God. Therefore, He got their attention by touching them where He knew they'd feel it: in their pocketbooks. Specifically, He allowed hostile nations to completely ruin Israel's livelihood--their crops--for seven years. This aggression all but destroyed their way of life.
What was the result? Judges 6:6 reveals, "The sons of Israel cried to the Lord." That is, they turned back to Him and did whatever was necessary for their relationship with God to be restored. And what instigated this repentance? It was the Lord's direct manipulation and interruption of their finances.
Over the years, I've talked with many people who have gone through a similar experience. God granted them great success, but then they turned away from Him. So He removed the obstacle: their money. And more often than not, the result was a renewed passion for knowing God.
Remember, our Lord is a jealous God (Ex. 20:5-7). He will not allow even His own blessings to draw you away from Him. Prayerfully consider your priorities today. Ask God to reign supreme over your finances, and request the wisdom to manage your money under His direction.

Grumbling or Grateful?
from the messages of Adrian Rogers
BIBLE MEDITATION:
Psalm 100:4 - "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name."
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:
A preacher who was traveling by train noticed two other passengers, a well-dressed man and a magnificently dressed woman with expensive jewelry. The woman was complaining about everything — the train ride, the weather, the news, the food, the service. The preacher decided to engage this couple in a conversation. He asked the man what kind of business he was in and the man told him. Then he asked, “What does your wife do?” He said, “Oh, she’s in the manufacturing business. She manufactures her own unhappiness.” There are a lot of people like that. They manufacture their misery because they fail to be grateful. Only Christ can turn our lives around and stir up a grateful heart within.
ACTION POINT:
Go through the alphabet and be thankful for something that begins with each letter.

This Morning's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"The liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free."—Galatians 5:1.
THIS "liberty" makes us free to heaven's charter—the Bible. Here is a choice passage, believer, "When thou passest through the rivers, I will be with thee." You are free to that. Here is another: "The mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from thee"; you are free to that. You are a welcome guest at the table of the promises. Scripture is a never-failing treasury filled with boundless stores of grace. It is the bank of heaven; you may draw from it as much as you please, without let or hindrance. Come in faith and you are welcome to all covenant blessings. There is not a promise in the Word which shall be withheld. In the depths of tribulations let this freedom comfort you; amidst waves of distress let it cheer you; when sorrows surround thee let it be thy solace. This is thy Father's love-token; thou art free to it at all times. Thou art also free to the throne of grace. It is the believer's privilege to have access at all times to His heavenly Father. Whatever our desires, our difficulties, our wants, we are at liberty to spread all before Him. It matters not how much we may have sinned, we may ask and expect pardon. It signifies nothing how poor we are, we may plead His promise that He will provide all things needful. We have permission to approach His throne at all times—in midnight's darkest hour, or in noontide's most burning heat. Exercise thy right, O believer, and live up to thy privilege. Thou art free to all that is treasured up in Christ—wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. It matters not what thy need is, for there is fulness of supply in Christ, and it is there for thee. O what a "freedom" is thine! freedom from condemnation, freedom to the promises, freedom to the throne of grace, and at last freedom to enter heaven!

This Evening's Meditation
C. H. Spurgeon
"For this child I prayed."—1 Samuel 1:27.
DEVOUT souls delight to look upon those mercies which they have obtained in answer to supplication, for they can see God's especial love in them. When we can name our blessings Samuel, that is, "asked of God," they will be as dear to us as her child was to Hannah. Peninnah had many children, but they came as common blessings unsought in prayer: Hannah's one heaven-given child was dearer far, because he was the fruit of earnest pleadings. How sweet was that water to Samson which he found at "the well of him that prayed!" Quassia cups turn all waters bitter, but the cup of prayer puts a sweetness into the draughts it brings. Did we pray for the conversion of our children? How doubly sweet, when they are saved, to see in them our own petitions fulfilled! Better to rejoice over them as the fruit of our pleadings than as the fruit of our bodies. Have we sought of the Lord some choice spiritual gift? When it comes to us it will be wrapped up in the gold cloth of God's faithfulness and truth, and so be doubly precious. Have we petitioned for success in the Lord's work? How joyful is the prosperity which comes flying upon the wings of prayer! It is always best to get blessings into our house in the legitimate way, by the door of prayer; then they are blessings indeed, and not temptations. Even when prayer speeds not, the blessings grow all the richer for the delay; the child Jesus was all the more lovely in the eyes of Mary when she found Him after having sought Him sorrowing. That which we win by prayer we should dedicate to God, as Hannah dedicated Samuel. The gift came from heaven, let it go to heaven. Prayer brought it, gratitude sang over it, let devotion consecrate it. Here will be a special occasion for saying, "Of Thine own have I given unto Thee." Reader, is prayer your element or your weariness? Which?

Today, beings a close to the 40 days of prayer. May the LORD QUICKEN your heart, to things that need to be changed, and may HE DRAW you EVER CLOSER to HIMSELF, through HIS WORD, and PRAYER.
Dear FATHER, we thank you for the 40 day journey of spending time, reflecting upon HIS WORD, and in prayer.Thank you for giving us godly men, who spent time studying YOUR WORD, and SEEKING YOUR WISDOM and UNDERSTANDING. Let us also apply the WORD, to our hearts and minds. LET us become OBEDIENT in APPLYING the WORD, to our daily lives.Thank you for sending JESUS, to be our LORD and SAVIOR, and for the HOLY SPIRIT ANOINTING. Be with us and GUIDE us, into YOUR HOLY PRESENCE, in ALL THINGS. Thank you for LOVING us, while we were yet sinners. Thank you for all YOU HAVE DONE, ARE DOING and WILL DO. Thank you for YOUR SAVING GRACE and MERCY, that is POURED out, to anyone who seeks REDEMPTION. Place within each of us, a new desire to SERVE YOU, to seek the lost and dying world, and spread the GOOD NEWS, that YOU ARE the TRUE and LIVING GOD. LET YOUR WILL BE DONE, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.
