Susan’s Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
Susan’s Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb ground turkey
3 links of Sweet Italian Sausage (remove casing) and cook with ground beef.
½ of pepperoni (Small package) About 30 slices
1 can of stewed tomatoes
1 can of mushrooms (optional)
1 no. 10 can of Angela Mia All Purpose Crushed Tomatoes or 2 large cans of Tomato Puree
3 bay leaves (don’t eat these!)
Sweet Basil (About ½ hand full)(1/2 cup)
Oregano ( about 1/4 hand full)(1/4 cup)
About 3 T. fresh crushed garlic
1 onion and 1 bell pepper chopped. (Add to cooked ground turkey mixture and cook until onion is translucent)
½ cup sugar at end of cooking, (or 1 cup red wine.) This cuts the acid in the Spaghetti Sauce.
Once meat, bell pepper and onion is done, in a large pot, add pepperoni, stewed tomatoes, mushrooms (optional), crushed tomatoes, and seasoning. Simmer over low heat, until heated through. Add sugar or wine, once sauce is done. Serve over spaghetti, with fresh grated mozzarella cheese and garlic bread. Enjoy! Nutritional values in comments.
