    John 11:23-26

KJV(i) 23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Rotherham(i) 23 Jesus saith unto her—Thy brother shall rise. 24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise, in the resurrection, in the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her—I, am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, even though he die, shall live again! 26 And, no one who liveth again and believeth on me, shall in anywise die, unto times age-abiding. Believest thou this?

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

23 Jesus spoke it, it will happen. Her brother would rise again because Jesus said he would. Jesus’ word was as creditable as God’s because they are one in the same. Jesus is God.

24 Martha had faith in Jesus and believed what He taught them. Martha accepts God’s will a truth even during a time of grief. She did not blame her for her brother’s death but did know He could have stopped it. It was God’s will that Lazarus died. Jesus allowed Lazarus to die. The belief in the resurrection at the last day was not taught by the Sadducees.

25 When we have faith our lives are no longer in ourselves but are now in Him. Thru Christ we will pass from life to new life in Him. We will depart this earthly body for a heavenly body.

26 This is one of the cores to the gospel. We live by Him. Accepting this was accepting Jesus denies this was to deny Him. This teaching was far different then anything they would have ever heard.
