How did the disciples die? Empty How did the disciples die?

Post by Susan Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:54 am

Most if not all the disciples who followed JESUS gave their lives for HIM, and suffered through many persecutions. According to the WORD, James, the Son of Zebedee and brother of John was killed by a sword:

Acts 12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

And the Disciple which betrayed JESUS, Judas Iscariot, commited suicide:

Matthew 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

So what how did the other discipes die? The truth is we don't know for sure, how each of the disciples died. The BIBLE doesn't tell us what happened to each of the disciples, but, a few early Church writer's have given us information concerning their deaths. The following are just a couple websites that have compiled information concerning the early church writings on how the disciples died.

Are you a disciple of CHRIST? Being a disciple means following JESUS. According to the BIBLE we are to take up our cross and follow HIM. Does this mean that each of us will die a martyr's death? I don't think it means that, but, it does mean being willing to die for JESUS and for the message of Salvation, through HIM. If we are truly SAVED and BORN AGAIN Christians, then, we have already died and have nothing to loose. For with CHRIST we are made NEW! One thing that is consistant with all the BIBLICAL accounts, was that the disciples ll had the same mission, to spread th GOSPEL of CHRIST. They were about the FATHER'S BUSINESS. We should also, be about spreading the GOSPEL of CHRIST. AMEN.
