Re: Republican Presidential Nominee: McCain
I happen to be considered an evangelical voter. This does not mean I have a right to push my opinion. Our Constitution is set up that the MAJORITY RULES. I think evangelicals should be out spreading the love and the Gospel...like Jesus told them to do. If they would do that....then they WOULD be a MAJORITY and all those things issues they are interested in wouldn't be issues at all because we would still be 'One Nation Under God' in more ways than just words.
McCain is alright and as a Republican I'll vote for him, but he wasn't my first choice because he is too old. He's got the charisma of a rock.

Hopefully, he is a rock that doesn't roll. I pray that if he is elected, that the LORD will guide him, 100%. We don't need another G-dubya, but someone that can think with wisdom under duress stress, and act accordingly. G-dubya, went into office with his own agenda, and sold the US out, on many levels...one being the Oil issues we are dealing with now, that is padding ole G-dubya's pockets. We need to remember that he is an oil man first.
McCain may be old, but he is phycsically fit. We may find some hope in him, becoming Prez.

Re: Republican Presidential Nominee: McCain
My Dad used to be the VP and Comptroller of Florida Farm Bureau Ins. here in Florida and I grew up in politics. Most of my life was spent working in one political campaign or the other. I'm a member of the 'Pachyderm Club', have attended GOP conventions and have an autographed picture of Dubya. I have held signs, made phone calls, raised money and a whole bunch of other things.
Then one day God told me quite plainly that if I spent half as much time on my knees praying for this country as I did on all my political work, He could actually do something with it.
From that point on, I still keep up with what is going on because as Americans I think we should, but it is no longer the 'god' in my life.

Re: Republican Presidential Nominee: McCain
The LORD truly amazes me, at how HE brings us out of something, that we are putting before, HIM. I agree, we need to spend more time, praying for our country.GloryB wrote:My Dad used to be the VP and Comptroller of Florida Farm Bureau Ins. here in Florida and I grew up in politics. Re: Republican Presidential Nominee: McCain
I think any evangelical voter has to question themselves if they are putting fighting for moral issues in politics above walking in love. Jesus never said the world would know us by our morals.....He said they would know us by our love for one another.

Re: Republican Presidential Nominee: McCain
I agree, with you, GloryB. We need to look at our own motives, first, and we certainly need to love one another. The question is how do we balance this? I think the answer is also praying for our government leaders, to make the right choices. I remember a time, that the church was praying, every Sunday, Wednesday and any other time, we gathered together, for our governement leaders...somewhere along the way, we have forgotten to pray for them. Look where this has placed the US in recent years! We have less and less of a choice for a good candidate, and a godly candidate.

Here's a good link to bookmark to use when praying for America. It is always current and has lots of information on it.

McCain: Social Security funding now `a disgrace'
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080709/D91QISHG1.html
Just my opinion: If the US government, would return the money that they have borrowed from the Social Security Admin; there would be no need for us to worry if Social Security would be available to the younger generations, now putting money into it. It is time for the government to reinstate the borrowed funds, plus interest. That is my opinion.
Stepping off the soap box now.

McCain's speech form his Campaign email:
John McCain's Remarks on the Economic Crisis
New York, NY
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.
Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns. This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward. I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.
It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration's proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.
Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.
I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.
We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved. I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.
I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.
Following September 11th, our national leaders came together at a time of crisis. We must show that kind of patriotism now. Americans across our country lament the fact that partisan divisions in Washington have prevented us from addressing our national challenges. Now is our chance to come together to prove that Washington is once again capable of leading this country.
