    John 11:51-53King James Version (KJV)
    51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
    52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
    53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

    John 11:51-53

    Rotherham 51 This, however, from himself, he spake not, but, being, High-priest, for that year, he prophesied, that Jesus was about to die for the nation; 52 and, not for the nation only, but that, the scattered children of God also, he might gather together into one. 53 From that day, therefore, they took counsel, that they might put him to death.

    These are my thoughts, please share yours.

    51 Often times the Lord may put words in our mouths when we need Him to, He also can keep us from saying words or give us a mind block, this is not saying that all our words we say are given from God but is saying that God still works this same way today. This verse also shows that God can use those not of His flock for purposes. Jesus would die for the Jews but also died for the Gentiles.

    52 We are made one by Christ, we often allow division to divide us but we are still to be one serving Christ, our faith is the strongest when we trust in God to overcome doctrinal differences.

    53 They wanted Jesus dead but now they were making plans to do so, they were setting times and finding the how they should kill Him. They for a long time wanted to kill Jesus but now they were going to kill Him it was just a matter of how or when, they had not yet decided.
