John 11:34-36
John 11:34-36
KJV 34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
Rotherham 34 and said—Where have ye laid him? They say unto him—Lord! come and see. 35 Jesus wept. 36 The Jews, therefore, were saying—See! how tenderly he loved him!
These are my thoughts, please share yours.
34 Jesus knew what He was going to do, He knew where they laid Him but for Him to do what was needed they needed to see Lazarus being raised, there would have many doubters if Jesus would have raised him and then people would then see Lazarus after but to do in front of them meant it was not hearsay much first hand.
35 This shows Jesus had emotion. Jesus loved Lazarus and his family. Jesus may have wept because He knew Lazarus was in paradise and was about to be brought out. Lazarus was at rest and peace and was about to bring back from that but it had to be done to fulfill God’s plan and this may have caused Jesus to cry. It also could have been joy that He would see His friend again.
36 They knew the relationship He had with the family because of Him crying, He often cries for the church I am sure and for the world who was yet to come to know Him. Jesus love was best shown not here but on the cross.
