WI Unions and the Public Protests Empty WI Unions and the Public Protests

Post by Susan Fri Feb 18, 2011 12:26 pm

When Unions first formed in the USA, it was to contol low wages, poor working conditions, long hours and it put an end to child labor., etc. But, a transition has happened over the years, which gave the various unions more power. The power began with a large numberr of people who signed up to be a Union Member. The Union Power Boss's got rich off of the workers, too! There was a lack of oversight.

The tables have totally reversed, to the point that many local governemnts can not control the costs of these Union demands. For instance, many states have Teacher's Unions, where the teachers become tennured, and no longer have to worry about loosing thier jobs, even though Public Education has dwindled to an all time low; where many students are failing are passed from grade to grade. Even though most of these teachers are qualified, the lack of oversight on thier teaching abilities was squashed. As a parent and now grandparent, I have witnessed what this does for our children's education, first hand! We now have more illiterate students graduating, than countires that have little or no schools available. That is a sad reality.

There is two sides to every story. What has been meant for good of our Nation is quickly turning out to be bad. It only takes a few money hungry people to turn a good thing into something bad. This one is leading us down the road to financial destruction of our local governments, if something isn't changed and soon.

There is an answer, but many will not heed to it. Make sure fair wages are given to those who deserve it, and take those who abuse the system by getting rich off the backs of others, and/or not performing thier jobs to jail or delete their positions.

Somewhere along the line, there has to be changes made and kept, to keep our local and National Government's from going broke. The first thing should always be oversight, making sure the money we pay in as taxes are used for the good of the people, and not making someone rich because of loop holes.

    That's my humble opinion.
