Is Islam a Religion of Peace?

    Excerpt:
    Islam is three things:

    1.a religion
    2.a political movement
    3.a military movement
I have absolutely no problem with the first one. I DO have a problem with the second and third ones for a very important reason. Because Islam is a political movement, proponents of it have been working very hard often within the weaknesses of Democracy in the United States, to overcome America’s system (or to take advantage of it) from within. Keith Ellison was elected to Congress in 2006. Though never making a big deal of being a Muslim while campaigning, after he was elected, it became the heart of his run as a Muslim member of Congress.

Beyond this, because Islam is a military movement, Muslims see absolutely no problem with killing “infidels” simply because they are infidels. To be clear, according to Islam, anyone who is not part of the Islamic religion is an infidel. Specifically, here are some interesting admonitions for Muslims from the Qur’an itself:

•Believers, take neither the Jews nor the Christians for your friends. (Sura 5:51)
•Infidels are those who declare: “God is the Christ, the son of Mary.” (Sura 5:17)
•Infidels are those that say “God is one of three in a Trinity.” (Sura 5:73)
•Make war on infidels who dwell around you. (Sura 9:123)
The above statements are directly from the Qur’an. While someone might argue that context is important, I would agree. I would also encourage the person who believes that the these statements were ripped from their context within the Qur’an, to look them up and see if that is true. Here are more:

•The infidels are your sworn enemies. (Sura 4:101)
•When you meet the infidel in the battlefield, strike off their heads. (Sura 47:4)
•Mohammed is Allah’s apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the infidels. (Sura 48:29)
•Prophet, make war on the infidels. (Sura 66:9)
•Kill the disbelievers where we find them. (Sura 2:191)
It should be noted that the Qur’an is largely a book of sayings. There is no real context to it. It is one saying after another with no real context. Each individual saying is a belief that true Muslims hold dear. They believe them and work to bring them to fruition.
